Jo Dumpleton (b.1989) works from her home studio in Hertfordshire, UK. She studied illustration at Camberwell College of Arts, London.

Her artistic practice began with her creating intricate small scale graphite pencil drawings, for which she was shortlisted for the prestigious Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in 2021. Since then she has been enjoying painting with watercolours, gouache and acrylics. Still, her detailed drawing style remains visually clear in her more recent work.

Jo’s work references studio portraiture, mostly from the Edwardian and Victorian period. She explores the themes of historical trends and the mystery of lives long gone. Toying with unusual compositions and zooming in on elements such as clothing, her work has a somewhat contemporary feel.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries around the UK and is held in private collections internationally. She currently creates collections for Partnership Editions.
